Houston Horror Film Fest

I attended the Houston Horror Film Fest again this year and had a great time. What follows are some pics and a story about the event.

This year, I received 2 Media Passes to the event and I was grateful. With as many events as I cover, it would cost me a small fortune if I had to pay for every event or attraction I visited.

I always enjoy getting a pic with their back drop.

Purgatory Scream Park had another display this year. Last year, they had a set from Stranger Things. This year, they went a bit darker. And I loved it.

I really appreciate the attention to detail. They really make an effort.

So many details to drink in with the eyes.

Purgatory Scream Park is opening soon. I made arrangements to visit this year. I’ll be there the first Friday that they open to photograph the staff getting ready, etc. I should end up with some great pics. I’ll post a blog story about that soon so look forward to it.

Their address is 1965 Northpark Dr, Kingwood, TX 77339.

I shot a commercial with Shane Glasgow, one of the owners. He told me that it takes about 30 to 45 minutes to go through their attraction.

He also said that their property is an indoor/outdoor attraction covering 25,000 sq. feet.

I wonder if they looked at this shelf and said, “I think it’s missing something. I know… toes on a string!” I love it.

The HHFF offers many things, including great artwork.

Creepz the Clown is promoting another haunted house.

Quite a bloody group.

There were a lot of clowns at HHFF 2023 on the Friday.

Some are scared of clowns.

This is not the only pretty Freddy Krueger that I photographed during the weekend.

Moses works at the Westchase Marriott. He is one cool cat. I enjoy seeing him and he always speaks so well of me. He said that I must be taking Benjamin Buttons pills because I looked younger than last year. That was funny.

13th Floor Haunted House.

Saturday is always the biggest day of a cosplay event.

You know you’ll have an interesting cosplay when it involves a straight jacket and a dolly. Remember this lady that is playing Hannibal Lector.

The man who played the kid in Chucky was a guest at the film fest. I saw a lot of people carrying their Chucky dolls because they had them autographed.

Saturday at HHFF was filled with lots of great people.

And many were in awesome cosplays.

This location in the main lobby was the best spot for photos because of the natural light.

Not so sure I’d want a kiss from her, lol.

A funny couple. Here is something about their cosplay…

“Alexa and Alexie Grady are the names given to the twins in the 1980 film (they are not given first names in the 1977 book). They are two little girls who were murdered by their father Delbert Grady, when he was possessed by ghosts in the Overlook Hotel in The Shining.”

These two would scare me on a dark night also.

Can you imagine walking to your car in a darkened car garage late at night and you see this running at you?

This concludes the section about Saturday.

Saturday night, I went back to the Westchase Marriott at 11pm to attend the Rave to the Grave party. My Media Pass got me in for free.

The place was packed.

And the music was great.

There was also a photo op with an HHFF back drop.

When I got home and started editing my pics, I laughed when I saw this guy.

On Sunday, I got my Red Carpet pic again.

The Purgatory display was a favorite of many attendees.

And the owners and staff are so friendly.

Harley Quinn is a favorite of millions. Here is some info about her…

Sunday was not as crowded as Saturday, but still a good crowd.

This is a crossover cosplay. It’s Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th as Pinhead. Pretty cool.

The Grady twins again. I had never seen this cosplay in all my years of attending comicons and I saw it twice in one weekend.
