I had some free time this evening, so I penned this new poem. Took about 30 minutes and I’m very pleased with it. I hope you enjoy it. Be safe.
Now days, the big fear is coronavirus,
No one wants to be, on a crowded bus.
Many have it, many have died,
Vaccines, to be tried.
Hand cleanser, and a face mask,
Stores are sold out, don’t even ask.
The young are safer, but not the old,
Be safe, or you’ve got it, you’ll be told.
It’s a respiratory virus, like the flu,
Cover your face, when you achoo.
Stays on surfaces, for several days,
If not cleaned, there it stays.
It came from China, just like SARS,
I’d never go, in their bars.
Events are being cancelled, left and right,
Affecting the economy, money is getting tight.
Blew up the Stock Market, here and abroad,
Left millions, shocked and slack jawed.
Thousands of cases, worldwide,
Thousands, have died.
Schools and businesses, are closing,
Even as I am, composing.
People were trapped, on cruise ships,
Wish they had taken, any other trips.
Quarantine, is the word of the day,
Away from everybody, they’ll make you stay.
World Health Organization, declares pandemic,
Heed all warnings, so you won’t get sick.
I cancelled two trips, I had set,
Coronavirus, I don’t want to get.
Already bought my mask, and working from home,
Probably going to be awhile, before I roam.
Usually, I end with a joke,
Ire, that would provoke.
I wish you well, and good health,
When moving about, use stealth.
I hope I see you, on the other side,
After this passes, we’ll smile wide.
