My name is Paul Michaels and I’ve been traveling and taking photos and video for years. My photos and videos can be found at http://www.paulmichaels.com Most of my travels have included every major city in the U.S. and some of Europe and Mexico. I worked in motorsports for about a decade and had the pleasure of working with the best teams in NASCAR, IndyCar and the NHRA.

Before I worked in auto racing, I was on a championship lifeguarding team that won 9 straight titles.
Can you guess which championship this one was?
During the competitions, I would take written tests, do the back boarding event, sometimes I swam in the victim recovery event and I was a Ring Buoy specialist.
The pic below is when we set a new state record of 3:15 in the Ring Buoy event.
Then a few years later, we broke our own record with a time of 1:48. That record will never be broken.
We were one wild and crazy bunch.
I was really thin during my lifeguarding days.
We were undefeated in softball.
I was the coach and we had an awesome team.
It never got old posing with trophies.
A photo from when I was asked to go to California to train lifeguards.
While I was lifeguarding, we also did a Halloween project every year. This is myself and a friend named Pat.
Recently, I met up with other Supervisors, from the waterpark I worked at, for a drink or two.
Even though myself and all of my lifeguarding buddies got older, we’re still great friends.
No one can ever accuse me of not knowing how to relax. This is a picture of having no regrets for missing out on anything when you’re young… especially Spring Break.
After lifeguarding, I started on my travels. I’ve been able to visit lots of monuments and historical places along the way. The photo below is from Battery Park in New York, near the ferry that you take to the Statue of Liberty. This ‘Space Man’ puts on his silver suit and paints his hair and face every day to pose for his tips.
The Statue of Liberty is one of our most famous landmarks and I’m proud to say that I’ve seen her up close and personal. It’s amazing to think of how many immigrants passed her and had thoughts of a new life and made up what is the history of our country.
This photo below is from my first trip to Europe.
Of all the monuments I’ve visited, the Eiffel Tower has to be my favorite. I’ve been to Paris several times now and I go to Tour de Eiffel every time and it never gets old. I’ve been to the top of the tower and the view is spectacular. I’ve visited in the winter and the summer and the summer is definitely better because of the Paris weather during that time of the year.
Going to Paris would not be complete without a trip by to see Notre Dame. It’s an amazing church and has such beautiful architecture. The statues and engravings on the front are purely spectacular. And everyone knows of Victor Hugo’s story of ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’.
One of my other destinations in Europe was London. I visited the Tower Bridge and walked through the top portion of the bridge on a tour. It’s pretty cool up there because they have photos of the Thames from that vantage point from many years ago.
Got a kiss from some clown posing as a Palace Guard, lol.
I also took a selfie in front of Buckingham Palace.
At night during the holidays, Buckingham Palace aims lights at the palace and puts different images on it.
Back in the states, I visited the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia and took a bus tour of the city where I saw Ben Franklin’s grave. I also walked around in Ben’s footsteps and toured his printshop.
One of the cities in the U.S. that I’ve been to the most is Las Vegas. I’ve been there many times for conventions and pleasure. I’ve photographed the strip both at day and night to capture what Vegas looks like for those who have never been. The photo below is in front of Caesar’s Palace.
In front of Treasure Island Resort in Vegas.
One of my favorite trips was to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. While there I took a side trip to see Mt. Rushmore and photograph it for my website.
In Sturgis, they had a very large crane with a bucket on it that would take you high up into the air to see the city from that vantage point.
During the Sturgis Rally, there’s always colorful characters milling around.
Every day at noon and five, they take a photo of Main street in Sturgis. I’m in the middle, towards the back. Good luck finding me, lol.
On one of my many trips to New York, I visited the top of the Empire State Building twice.
A photo from Brooklyn.
With Jeff in New York.
With Jeff and Diana partying in New York.
Times Square is probably my favorite place in New York because of all of the activity that goes on there.
Many New Yorkers will dress up in costumes to pose for tips with the tourists. I always get a few pics because they’re fun pics for my scrapbook.
New York’s Finest.
During my many years in auto racing, I gave many Garage and Pit Tours to VIP’s for the companies I represented.
When I started out, I didn’t know much about NASCAR or racing.
I asked a lot of questions and kept good notes.
Soon, I was one of the better Tour Guides on the circuit.
I won’t say I was the best, but I did have other companies asking me for a copy of my notes.
I was told by my employer not to give my notes to anybody. It was our competitive edge on the competition that we gave better tours than anybody else.
I used my notes to train other employees in our company on how to give tours and they became very successful also at giving tours of the Garage and Pit areas,
Every week, I was in a different city, at a different track giving my tours.
Sometimes I would work for many different companies.
The photo below is from the Miami race where I gave a tour to grade school kids. I had them pretend to be Pit Crew members and do a Pit Stop. They loved it.
Although I had many responsibilities while I worked in auto racing, my favorite job was giving tours.
Many times, the VIP guests would video my tours so they could enjoy them when they got home.
I was videotaped all across the U.S. giving my tours.
One of my favorite tracks to work at was the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The next few photos are from that track.
Below, I am discussing work with other tour guides from other companies.
I always had good relationships with the teams we worked with.
I’d have to say that other than when I was lifeguarding with bikinis all around me, racing was my next favorite job.
I learned quite a lot from spending so much time around the racing teams.
I got to see every major race in Motorsports.
I was able to be in places race fans can only dream about.
I was able to shot photos and video of all aspects of auto racing.
And I have pictures with many drivers. Here, our team poses with Greg Biffle, NASCAR driver.
During the Indy 500, I always tried to get a picture with the Firehawk mascot.
And the Indy 500 trophy.
As well as our race car.
This photo is from the museum at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
This photo is from the Brickyard 400, also held at the Indy track.
With Duane Sweeney, a retired Indy 500 Flag Man.
I also had the chance to drive race cars at several tracks around the country.
I also got to ride in a lot of race cars on a lot of different race tracks around the country,
The pic below was from a party at Panther Racing.
You see some funny things at a NASCAR race. This is a motorized toilet.
When we would travel around the country, we always found time for racing.
At the Texas Motor Speedway.

A John Belushi look-a-like.
Tony & Cruz, The Pedregon Brothers of Drag Racing.
There’s always characters running around at the Indy 500.
I met this guy at the Texas NASCAR race. He had a lot of hair.
I enjoyed having access to all of the restricted areas at a race.
I shot a lot of video over the years.
And worked with a lot of different drivers and teams.
Great friends from work while we were on the road for a race.
One year at the Indy 500, a photographer shot a picture and I was working on the other side. This shot was the centerfold image in ESPN the Magazine.
At the NASCAR races, I would help out in the Hospitality area after I had finished with the Garage and Pit Tours for the morning.
At the end of the races, I would throw out free hats to the crowds of race fans.
At the NHRA Drag races I did all sorts of jobs. In the next photos, I’m driving a camera crew around in a cart.
At one race, we gave a go cart to a kid who had one stolen from him after he had saved cans to buy one.
At another race, I got stuck working with a bunch of beautiful models, lol.
Since I just mentioned working with models, I’ll bring this up. I was assigned a job working an import car drag racing series. And on the road, this racing series had bikini contests every Sunday.
I started out being a judge then after a short time, they asked me to help run the contests. The following photos are from that job.
During my racing career, I was a part of a lot of winning teams.
At an NHRA Drag Race, I posed for a photo with a Winner’s Trophy.
A photo while at a NASCAR race.
In Vegas for a World of Outlaws race.
The company I worked for believed in looking good while at the races.
And we always had fun dining out.
When I would travel to the races, I would always try to get a nice convertible to drive while in every city.
In the warehouse of the skincare company.
Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and working with some very beautiful ladies.
Little Lady GaGa.
These next photos are from my photoshoots.
Throughout the year, I try to attend events in Houston. The pics below are from St. Patrick’s Day.

Halloween in the Montrose Area of Houston.
I also enjoyed Halloween in Phoenix one year. I walked into a bar dressed as Braveheart and ran into all of these guys dressed like this. It made for one great picture.
Right before I got arrested. Just kidding, lol.
I’ve been to both Disney parks. This picture is from Disneyland in Anaheim, CA.
Monterrey, CA is fun but don’t stay in a hotel near the water because the seals barking at night will keep you up, lol.
Mardi Gras in New Orleans is always fun.
The Houston BBQ Cookoff is one of the largest in the world.
It’s a good place to run into old friends.
I hang out around the Maverick Kookers tent.
I always wear my knee high leather boots.
When I would go to the races, I would always try to get a picture with the mascots. This one is from AOL.
This pic is from the Texas IRL race with the ‘Flying Elvi” They parachuted into the race.
Over the years, I’ve owned and ridden many different motorcycles.
When I went to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, I had a really fun time.
And working at the Indy 500 was fun also.
Even though I’ve been out of racing for a while now, I still try to attend the Texas NASCAR race in Dallas every so often.
My friend drives the truck with the big screen on it so he lets me on top to shoot photos during the race. It’s the best vantage point of Pit Road and I always get great shots.
I was always friendly with the track personnel and they never hassled me about getting anywhere I wanted to go.
Race fans decorate their campers at every race. We see some funny stuff.
At the Indy 500.
At a Drag Race in California.
At a NASCAR race in Phoenix, AZ.
Out partying with friends.
I attended COMiCPALOOZA and had a lot of fun. I shot 6 videos of interviews with the Cosplayers and 668 photos of people in their costumes.
This nice artist wanted to show me his Emmy. Very impressive to have won an Emmy for his work.
They had a Space Suit that you could get a picture with so I jumped behind it and got one.
As a kid, I watched ‘Speed Racer’ cartoons in the mornings before school. It was cool getting a picture in the Mach 5.
I eat at McDonald’s for breakfast a lot so I got a pic with the gang.
These two Disney Princesses were posing for photos so I was more than glad to get a picture with them.
I’ll be going to Space City Comic Con July 24th, 25th and 26th, so check back for more pictures and videos from that event.
I was going through some galleries of old photos and came across some pictures I hadn’t seen in a long time.
The Eiffel Tower looks great at night. This was during Christmas and New Year’s.
I’m standing in front of my hotel in this next photo. I had enough Member points with Hilton that I got a free stay while I was in Paris. I requested ahead of time for a room with a balcony view of the tower. My friend and I had a great view for our stay.
I was excited to see a Harley-Davidson store in Paris so I got a photo in front of it.
I found this picture when I was working on an article about Paris for my Blog. My sister and I are on a Paris boat tour in this selfie.
I also found a few photos from my trip to Amsterdam’s Red Light District to get some photos and video for a project about the district.
In this photo, I’m eating at a restaurant in the Red Light District during the Christmas /New Year’s Holiday’s.
In this photo, I’m on one of the many bridges over a canal in Amsterdam.
Lot’s of bicycles in Amsterdam.
In these next two photos, I’m standing on a small road where the Red Light District begins.
Notice the Sex Shop sign behind me.
I spent over a week in Amsterdam shooting video and taking pictures of the Red Light District during the Holiday’s.
You can see all of my Red Light District photos on my website, as well as the video I uploaded onto my YouTube Channel.
During the summer months, I’m by the pool.
During the winter months, I grow a beard. No one likes it, lol.

He was the best.
I also met a Gold Man.
Can you guess this guy was from San Francisco?
And this guy had a funny sign.
A while back, I visited some area High Schools and spoke about racing to the Auto Tech classes.
They liked seeing my racing rings.
The teachers were happy to have me speak to the students. I may do it again in the future.
Everybody deserves a day at the Spa for a massage and facial.
In 2015, I attended the Circus and had a great time.
It was held at the Texans NFL football stadium.
There were many beautiful ladies there.
These motorcycle stunt riders were amazing, They put eight guys in a metal ball and no one hit each other, unbelievable!
These guys were amazing also.
I always enjoy getting photos with the clowns.
The day after the circus, I spent the weekend taking photos and shooting video at Space City Comic Con in Houston.
I got some great photos. And I was in some great ones also.
I met Kristen Hughey. She’s gorgeous.
I wanted a picture with this next girl because her makeup was so awesome.
I always like the Harley Quinn characters.
This next girl made a cute redhead.
Tatiana was this girl’s name. Very sexy.
I ran into two Laura Croft’s from Tomb Raider.
And they both looked great.
It’s always nice to get a pic with Princess Leia.
I also got some more Star Wars guys in a photo with me.
I’ve always loved Wonder Woman.
This next girl looked good in her cosplay also. I would have liked to see her face though.
On the second day of Space City Comic Con (SCCC) I got some more good photos.
These two girls are sisters.
I’ll always be in love with Wonder Woman… and when she looks like this it’s very easy to do.
This Wonder Woman is very attractive as well.
I got a photo with the Disney Princess Elsa.
These girls were very fun-loving.

She makes a good Harley Quinn.
I thought this girl was cute in her costume.
I could be a Trekkie if all Trekkies looked like this girl.
My flash went off on this picture, but it still came out okay.
I turned 50 the day after Space City Comic Con was over. I think I still look okay for 50, but it’s all downhill from here on out, lol.
Soon after Space City Comic Con is Amazing Comic Con in Houston also. I attended all three days and took photos and video.
I thought this little lady was very cute in her costume.
I like the Harley Quinn character, so when I get the chance to get a photo, with someone dressed like her, I do.
This girl is from Germany and has a cute accent.
This guy was the best Batman I’ve seen in a long time. His suit is a motorcycle outfit with the Batman logos on it. Pretty cool.
He does hospital visits as batman and he says the kids go crazy when he walks in the rooms.
This girl had body paint all over her body to get that orange look. I like her wig too.
Women are now dressing as the character Deadpool. They’re known as Lady Deadpool’s.

I meet this girl at almost every con I go to. Her name is Celeste and she’s always fun to run into.
Here’s another little girl who looked good in her Cosplay outfit.
One of the cooler things that happened at Amazing Comic Con was that I got to meet David Prowse. He’s the original Darth Vader from the first three movies.
He was very cool to meet. I also got an autographed picture that I really like. David is old and won’t be around for much longer. I’m glad I got to meet him before he passes away.
I chose the photo where Darth Vader is using his hand and the Force to choke someone out, lol.
Another cool thing that happened at Amazing Con is that I posed in front of a green screen and they added different backgrounds to the photos. I chose post-apocalyptic.
The last thing I’ll mention about Amazing Comic Con is that I got a full body scan that this company will use to create six inch figurines of me. I got two. Here’s the photo on the computer of how the scan looked.
In 2016, I decided to do a Blog Series about all of the museums in Houston. Here I am at the Museum of Natural Science.
Here’s a photo of me at the 2016 Houston Boat Show.

I took a lot of pictures, visited three museums and ate out with my sister for every meal.
Luckily I didn’t gain a ton of weight from eating great meals all week.
I posted a blog article about my trip, complete with some great photos, for your viewing pleasure. Just look in the column on the right and you’ll see it.

This next photo with Christina might be my all time favorite. She looks awesome in her costume.
I went to the circus in 2016 for my birthday with my sister again. Not having the elephants there was definitely different. I guess it’s better for the elephants but the circus just wasn’t the same without them.
