I’ve been to Amsterdam 4 or 5 times now and I spend my time around the Red Light District.
All of these photos are from that area or nearby.
I never ate any of this kind of food. It just looks like it’s been in the window too long for me.
These desserts did look good and fresh though.
You could always find a sandwich shop as you were walking around.
A lot of shops had delicious looking desserts in their windows. I never tried one. Maybe next time.
I saw this fruit stand as I was strolling one day.
Lots of apples and bananas.
Everything looked fresh.
This shop had plenty of fruits on display.
This was a nice little corner store where you could grab something to eat as you see the sights.
I couldn’t make out what these were and the writing was hard to make out.
Your guess is as good as mine.
I think there’s mushrooms and some more things I don’t recognize.

You could get a loaf of bread here.
Just like in Paris, some restaurants had signs with their food on it.
It made it easier on the tourists.
You could just tell your waiter what number you wanted.
Sometimes the pictures looked better than the dish that was served.
This restaurant was trying really hard to be like America with its’ theme.

They didn’t have fries at this place yet so I had mashed potatoes with my hamburger. That was a first.
I came across a Mexican restaurant. It wasn’t that great.
I found a nice place to have a steak and fries. It was much bigger than the ones I had in Paris.
Breakfast meals were always good.
This was scrambled eggs over toast. It doesn’t look like that.
I tried lasagna one night and never again.
I was tempted many times when walking past these windows.
They all looked so appealing.
I had a pastry from this shop and liked it.
I never tried any doughnuts but they were all looking good on display.
The sign says 2.50 Euros. That’s $2.80 in U.S. dollars.
I think these looked the best.
There was a good sized wine shop near the Red Light District.
Here I am about to eat my hamburger and mashed potatoes.
The owner was so anxious for me to tell him how it tasted.
He knew I was American and wanted an honest opinion about how well his hamburger compared to those in the U.S.
I told him it was fine. And it was.
