I visited Sante Fe in March of 2016.  My sister and Brother in Law have a house there now and my sister wanted me to see it.

I was there for 5 full days and returned to Houston on the 6th day.

We flew into Albuquerque and drove about an hour to get to Santa Fe.

My sister’s house is great.  They have this life-size sculpture of an Indian warrior in their yard and it is unbelievably cool.

Another great sculpture they have is in the house.  This Indian riding a horse with the American flag is so detailed it’s a joy to look at.

Once we put our clothes away, we headed for the town plaza.

Near the plaza in Santa Fe is this old church.  They were going to make it taller, but decided to stop where it is today.  You can even see the rebar sticking out of the top when you stand in front of it.

Now, the law in town is that no building can be taller than the church.

The statues in the front were pleasing to look at.

I liked the framing of this next picture, with the top cross being over his right shoulder.

The inside was beautiful.  They were rehearsing for a wedding the day I snapped this photo.

Having my sister with me meant that I’d get some photos of myself during the trip, lol.

We took a tram tour around town the second day that were we there.

We passed by the Contemporary Arts museum.  The painted pillars are nice.

You’ll notice that all of the buildings and houses are the same color in Santa Fe.

They say, “You can paint your house whatever color you want, as long as it matches the dirt it’s on”.

Santa Fe is an art-filled city.

This building had a cool dragon coming off of the roof.

These statues were beautiful.

The artist has the colors patented and they’ll always look this way and never fade.

Absolutely beautiful.

Santa Fe has 80,000 people.

5,000 of them are working artists.

These stallions were awesome.

Here’s another great Indian.

We passed lots of houses on the tour that had their doors and garage doors painted this color.  It’s to ward off evil spirits.

Our tour guide does this part of the year and also acts in TV and Film projects because Santa Fe has studios.  There are a lot of projects filmed there because of the beautiful landscape.

The town plaza always had people milling around, shopping and eating.

Notice the clear blue sky.  We didn’t see a cloud the whole 6 days we were there.

Santa Fe is usually voted to have the cleanest air in America.

These lovely ladies were playing beautiful music in the plaza.

I definitely wanted a photo with them.

A unique thing about the plaza is the Indians selling their jewelry.

You have to be of Indian heritage to sell on the plaza.

Each morning at 7am, a drawing for spots is held and sometimes some people don’t get a spot to sell from.

The jewelry is all really nice.

I heard the Indians and the customers haggling a little also.

I looked for a turquoise ring for me, but couldn’t find one I liked.

There was a fajita stand on the plaza that smelled very good.

It’s fun to window shop at the stores around the plaza.  Here is some of the merchandise.

There definitely was a lot of turquoise.

I found some rings I liked, but they were in the hundreds of dollars.  Too expensive.

Here are those painted pillars in front of the Contemporary Arts museum.  Very nice.

You’ll see businesses and private homes with red peppers on display.  Uniquely Santa Fe.

One day, we drove out to a flea market.

There weren’t that many booths this time of year, but enough to go sight seeing through the market.

This booth had so much stuff on it that it was unbelievable.

Nice hats.

Nice used boots.

Lots of rugs to choose from.

Now I’ll talk a little about the food.

Santa Fe has over 200 restaurants and every meal I had was delicious.

This is a crepe I had for breakfast one day.  Great.

This same restaurant had lots of pastries also.

We had a dessert at one place that was very good.  This is flan with chocolate mousse, whipped cream, coffee ice cream and a chocolate crisp.

We also ordered their version of churros that came with tasty sauces to dip them in.  The chocolate was the best.

When we had Mexican food, it was really good.

I had pork tamales.

My sister had green chile enchiladas.

Also, sopapillas and honey for dessert.

At another place, we enjoyed chips and salsa while we waited for our food.

When it came, it was a green chile cheeseburger that we split. Very good.

My sister booked us in a cooking class while we were in town.

This painting on the building of the cooking school was very cool.

The cooking class lasted about two and a half hours.

They showed us how to make quesadillas, soup and muffins.  It all tasted so good.

Their dessert was delicious too.

The only time we ate at home, my sister made some spaghetti.

It was great.

On our last day in town, we stopped by a sunny patio for dessert in the afternoon.

I had the chocolate mousse that came with a large strawberry.

For our last dinner in town, my sister made reservations for us at Coyote Cafe.

Here are the crab cakes.  Very good.

I had the lobster bisque.  Not as good as what I get in Houston, but still pretty good.

For dinner, I had the Filet Mignon and potatoes.

And my sister had a strawberry salad.

We enjoyed our week in Santa Fe very much.  I’ll be back.
