Some people have a fear of heights. I do also, to a certain degree.
For example, I’d never walk out over one of those transparent floors. I think the Tower Bridge in London now has a clear, see – through floor on the top section.
I’ve been to the top of a lot of important buildings and monuments though. I did go to the top section of the Tower Bridge in London before they installed the transparent floor.
I’ve been to the top of the Space Needle in Seattle three times now and I’ll go again upon my next visit to the Emerald City. I’d like to visit their Comic Con event one year.
I’ve been to New York a lot and I’ve made it to the top of the Empire State Building twice now. It’s a great view of the city.
I may not go up there again, just because the line and the wait is so long.

On one of my trips to the top of the Empire State Building, it was right after 9-11 and they had lots of security up there.
I’ve been to the top of the Willis Tower in Chicago. It used to be called the Sears Tower. I had drinks with my friend and some relatives. I remember we all stood and leaned forward to plant our foreheads against the glass, like they did in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. That is very scary to do.
The Willis Tower has a section of glass that you can stand on and look straight down. I’d never do that.
I also went to the top of the Tower of the Americas in San Antonio, Texas. I didn’t eat at the restaurant, but I plan to on my next visit. It’s a great view of the Alamo City from up there.
Another cool place I’ve been is the top of the St. Louis Arch. The little cars that you ride to the top were cramped and the area up there is not too large, but it was a great experience that I’d do again if I ever get back to St. Louis.
I’m probably most proud to say that I’ve been to the top of the Eiffel Tower. I know that many will never make the trip to Paris and of those that go, most will not wait in the lines to get to the top of the tower.

There are still several buildings and monuments I plan on going to the top of before my travels are through.
I suggest you make out a ‘Bucket List’ and try your best to mark things off as you accomplish them. I add to my ‘Bucket List’ all of the time.
One of my next goals is to go to the top of the Freedom Tower in New York. It’s the building that replaced the World Trade Center. I bet the view from up there is spectacular.

Keep on climbing. You don’t get to see the great view from the ground floor.

I love going to the top of the tall buildings because the views of the city are nearly always amazing! I’m not too bothered by heights, but at the top of the Eiffel Tower my legs were a bit shaky! If you find yourself in Bruge, I’d recommend the Belfry Tower. It’s a bit of a climb, but on a clear day the views are lovely 🙂
Thanks for the tip. I think my next trip might be to Vegas and I’m going to try to go to the top of the Stratosphere. I’d never ride the ride up there, but I’d go for the view of the city.
